I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.

  1. I’m sure Apple patented their Retina display, just like everything else.

    1.  hahaah! yup. and perhaps the ‘gesture’ of observing the display content using human eyes as photo receptors. this, coupled with their pending patent on ‘transmitting information through the brain by means of chemical and/or electrical stimulus” are the foothold of apple’s future. :)

    2.  How can it be patented? It is a high resolution IPS-LCD display, they can’t patent it because Sharp or LG has the patent on IPS display. A Japanese Android phone by Sharp has the same resolution and that was release last year.

  2. Retina Display is just a marketing term Apple made up for screens with a high pixel density with really no clear definition as to what constitutes a display to be considered a Retina Display or not.
It didn’t help matters any when Apple actually changed their wierd equation of what constitutes their display (LGs and now Samsungs since they produced them…) to be considered a retina display because their new iPad didnt meet the original equation they made up. So they made up a new bs equation so they could say the new iPad has a Retina Display.

If you want to be technical… The Samsung Galaxy Note also has a Retina Display, as does the the Galaxy Nexus, as does the HTC Rezound, as does the LG Nitro, Xperia S, HTC One, etc, etc… Not that it really means anything to anyone but Apple and iPhone fans.

  3. I think Starbucks totally sucks. I am at a loss as to why so many people…..Wait….It’s a human race thing. We are easily tricked…..Just look at all the iCrap fans.

  4. This part of the article sums up so much:
“But this is sort of Apple’s M.O — the idea that, ‘You don’t know what you want because we haven’t told you yet.’”
