Viewsonic ViewPad 10e Looking to Retail in the $300-$400 Range, According to Early Presale Pages

8

It looks like ViewSonic is just about ready to launch the ViewPad 10e here in the United States and some retailers are starting to take presales. One such retailer is Amazon who has posted a firm $400 price point for the 9.7 inch tablet. That’ll get you a 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM and Android 2.3 with SPB Mobile Shell 3D over the top. Worth it? Hardly, especially considering other tablets currently available that you can get for that same price point. The folks at J&R have the tablet for $300 but there are still better devices available for that price. It’s there if you want it, but I doubt many of you do. [TabletBite, Android Community]

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. Does this 0.7 inch tablet come with a magnifying glass so you can see the very very small pixels? ;-)

  5. Not buying their stuff just to have it unsupported by the manufacturer 3 months later.

Thankfully xda adopted the GTablet, but it would be nice to have hardware drivers.

  6. It seems that these days the thought of many electronics manufacturers is: “I heard that everyone is jumping on the tablet bandwagon. Let’s make something. People say it doesn’t matter what – just slap Android on it and call it a Pad-something. How much? Let’s sell like everyone else – $400 seems to be the right price.”

  7. Their software support for the gtablet is terrible.  I’d never buy from Viewsonic again.
First, make an slow unusable locked down Froyo with no market or basic Google apps, then fix it by releasing an even slower locked down version with no market.  Turrible.

Earn our support by fixing your mistakes, Viewsonic.  No second chances with products that cost hundreds of dollars.
