Google+ Update Brings Widget Back

15

One of the oddest things about the latest ICS-styled Google+ update was the complete obliteration of the simple, yet convenient widget that many loved. We’re not sure why it was ever canned, but Google’s issued an update to bring it back along with other various bug fixes. They still didn’t bring back the video upload option – either it’s a further bit down the roadmap or it just isn’t coming back. Either way, be sure to grab the updated application in the Android market.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. And still no tablet UI

    1. Yeah it is weird since they are trying to promote ICS with it bringing tablets and phones together.

    2. The phone UI on the tablet works just fine IMO.

      1. Totally disagree. We should at least be able to switch from stream to circles to profile etc without having to back out to the homescreen. And I wouldn’t mind except that the web version of G+ doesn’t work that well in the android browser.

  2. google +  who cares?

    1.  Forever Facebook uh? No.

    2. People that benefit from competition (read: everyone).

    3. People that enjoy their privacy, but also enjoy sharing information with the people they choose to share with. People who enjoy simplicity over piles and piles of menus and options. People who enjoy their photos and videos being automatically backed up on-line. Should I continue?

      1. Sounds good. I never liked any of those social networks.

    4. Hangouts are amazing. Realtime group chat, with only selected individuals, that posts to all of my mobile devices simultaneously. I care.

  3. They need to bring back video uploading. I wouldn’t have updated if I knew they took it out.

    1. dang it, you’re totally right. just looked & no option to be found.

  4. I haven’t had a widget in quite a while on my Nexus One and still don’t. I think the second or third G+ update took it out.

  5. My market shows no update for g+? I clicked the link a few times since it was posted and iv even went to my own market and checked and no update? Anyone else having this happen?

  6. At least this version of google+ works on my phone unlike the the last version.
