Samsung Sends Out Invites For Unpacked 2011 “Google Episode” Event

46

We’ve just seen it leaked (possibly) now our juices are flowing for some more Ice Cream Sandwich goodness. Well, it looks like October 11th could be the day everything is finally revealed and by everything — we mean none other than the Nexus Prime.

We’ve been drooling over the device/OS for months now and judging by this “Google Episode” Unpacked 2011 invite from Samsung, you can no doubt expect Google and Samsung to bring the pain (iPhone what?). The event will not only unveil the very latest Nexus device but all the sweet Ice Cream locked inside.

The Google edition Unpacked event will be taking place during the same time as CTIA this year in San Diego and mark my words, I will be there. Inside. Bringing you all the latest. With my camera. And wearing my Depends.

I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.

    1. That’s what she said?

  7. What are the chances the Prime would be coming to BIG RED?

    1. High. Like almost 99% certain.

      1. how about at&t

        1. Prob will rumors said it would be exclusive to Verizon first then go to other carriers.

          1. Why would Verizon put so much advertising (and the DROID label) on the Bionic when the Prime was coming out a month later? Who would buy a Bionic if the Prime is more advanced?

          2. Because the “normal” user has no idea that another phone is about to drop. They buy into the advertising and think that they’re getting the end all be all of smart phones. I bet that the majority of android owners don’t read up on what’s new and what specs are on these phones.

  8. Thank god it’s coming the day before T-mo releases SGSII and HTC Amaze. I’d be pretty angry if I blew my upgrade just before the Nexus bomb drops.

  9. Crazy how October is gonna be the battle of the best phone! iPhone announcement and this announcement is so close to eachother.

    1. That’s actually what I’m afraid of. No matter what Android phone you compare an iPhone too, the iPhone always won in the ‘Hype’. Yeah yeah it has an Apple logo, but I just don’t want Google to be placed in the shadow since they are following right behind Apple…Those are going to be some pretty large footsteps to follow in…Especially if the iPhone 5 will be released on Verizon at the getgo, then the Prime will barley even be known. I want an Android phone that I can walk around with and people say, “Woah he has the Prime!” Not, “Hey you have the iPhone 5 too?!”
      Sigh…

      1. Don’t buy a phone for status…buy it for performance. Customize your phone and make it look awesome…something you can’t do on current iphones. If someone asked me if I had the iphone, I would simply reply “no, I needed a phone with more capability and options – the iphone is just too restrictive”.

        1. I tend to disagree. I want the Nexus Prime because of all its features too, but it has something that no other Android phone has. It is a pure google device. Other phones may have stock Android (those are my favorites devices), but this one was made in collaboration with Google. You can walk around with “nerd pride” I don’t care what the average consumer thinks of my phone. I care what the people that actually know about this stuff think of my phone. This is the Google iPhone. Because of that I feel like I’m in an exclusive group.

  10. i hope there are no buttons on the bezel. i think that’s what i’m looking forward to the most :)

      1. yes yes yes, the most 0_0

    1. I agree also! That’s what would set it aside from all the other phones. Besides the fact that it has ICS, which every other phone that runs CM will have it in less than a month from its’ release. After that it will be the exact same, exempt for that beautiful 1280×720 screen. Ohhhhmmaaannnnn

      1. exactly! maybe then new phones would be compared to the Nexus first and set the example instead of the iPhone :)

  11. I can’t wait for this either… I need a new phone and I’m debating whether to go ahead and get the Galaxy S II on AT&T when it comes out Oct. 2, or to wait to hear more about this phone… I guess I’ll wait!

    1. Wait. Or you will regret not waiting.

  12. Haha. Wearing my depends? It might be akward seeing a video posted up on phandroid knowing you have depends on LOL!

  13. I’ll be in my bunk.

  14. OK then what are the chances of it making it to At&t?

    1. It probably will… over half a year after it comes out.

  15. Have you seen it?

Samsung announced its Exynos branded 1.5 Ghz dual core processor, I really prefer it than Nvidia.
    http://sammyhub.com/2011/09/29/samsung-develops-32nm-1-5ghz-dual-core-exynos-4212-soc/

  16. C’mon Sammy and Google. Drop the Nexus on Verizon so I can “Office Space” my Eris!

  17. Good things come to those who wait.
The road to Hell is paved with good intentions.

I think those are 2 key phrases that will be shown throughout the Cryonic meetings at Motorola. This is why I bypassed the hyperbole and false promises for that phone.

I can’t wait for the real next gen phones to be out.

  18. Cant wait for this. This will blow everything out of the water. Well maybe not the SGSII but still..hoping it has true HD resolution.

-Keen android fan/uni student in England waiting eagerly.

  19. this phone better not have a pentile matrix display…or else im getting the GSII
