Leak: a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED qHD LTE Motorola Device (Spyder) Appears, Motorola ATRIX 2 Press Shots

It wouldn’t be a Monday without some juicy leaks to sink our teeth into. This is My Next have gotten their hands on a press shot of a supposed Motorola Android phone that is said to have some pretty interesting features. It’s said to be getting LTE radios – meaning either AT&T or Verizon could carry it at this point, and will also supposedly come to market with a never-before-seen 4.3 inch qHD Super AMOLED display.

This is said to be the Motorola Spyder we’ve been hearing about, but they suggest it could be branded the Motorola DROID RAZR when and if it makes its way to Verizon. Another possibility would be that this is the Motorola DROID HD with TIMN claiming their tipster is almost certain these are the same phones. It all gets so confusing.

Other rumored specs for the Spyder include a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, an 8 megapixel 1080p rear camera, an as-yet unheard of HD front-facing camera (likely 720p), 1GB of RAM and Webtop functionality.

TIMN has also procured shots of the next Motorola ATRIX phone alongside its newly-designed Lapdock 100. Inside will be what we expected: 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, an 8 megapixel camera with flash (and likely with HD video recording), a front-facing camera and a 4.3 inch qHD display. It looks like LTE radios won’t be inside but you do get HSPA+.

The Lapdock to go along with it is interesting as it takes a bit of a turn away from the designs we’ve seen Motorola use for current devices. Aside from the notable aesthetic changes you see below, we’re told it’s going to have a 10.1 inch display, down from current models’ 11.6 inches.

This will also be a universal Lapdock as Motorola has opted to employ a cable to make the connection between phone and dock. This certainly cuts down on costs of having to manufacture different models for different phones and it helps users who might be going from one device to another. [TIMN 1, 2]

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. Yay, first post of the monday! FINALLY! i needed my Phandroid fix.

    1. Yeah, we didn’t have a morning shift guy so we’re getting a little bit of a late start. =p

      1. Wish I could write for a tech blog, especially one that doesn’t mean I have to suck up to Apple.

  2. HD front facing camera?
that’s a huge jump from what is available today right?
If true, this will be great

  3. Still has BLUR and I’m sure a lock bootloader. PASS

    1. Blur is not the same as it used to be like the qliq. It has improved drasticlly,i remember the old blur used to slow the atrix down soooo much, after GB update the new interface, just goes by so fast. The new UI for Blur doesnt slow phones down anymore like it used to.

      1. But it still sucks. Yes, I know sucks is relative. But if a phone isn’t AOSP or able to at least come with AOSP by means of unlocked bootloader, that phone doesn’t even skid my radar.

        1. matter of personal preference… my next phone will definitely be a motorola phone BECAUSE its got blur. i prefer it over HTC, samsung and sonys custom ui’s (although im not saying they suck, just that i didnt like them as much) 9 times out of 10 blur haters have never even picked up a motorola phone let alone used one for a while. they just read that “blur is bad” so jump on the bandwagon. i was put off of buying a motorola android phone for ages because of all the bad press, then when i actually tried it myself i realised it wasnt anywhere near as bad as people claimed. and the latest version is one of the best custom UI’s out there in my book.

and i thought motorola had unlocked bootloaders in the pipeline similar to sony. where u can unlock it at your own risk via the website.

  4. It must be a slow day for the Phandroid crew, just one new story this late in the afternoon.

    1. Try: we’re a man down today (no one to cover the morning shift) and there is a TON to cover from over the weekend.

      Thanks for your understand, Otis.

  5. The original RAZR was pretty epic for its time so I’d love to see the return of the RAZR brand. If they do it right, imagine the road it would cause other phones to take. BUT I hope they wait until smartphone battery technology catches up to things like multi-core/LTE, otherwise the battery will prevent the phone from being as thin as it can/should be.

  6. Global or no? That determines it for me.

  7. No NFC?

    No purchase.

  8. it’s sad that the Atrix 2 doesn’t have the finger swipe feature which got me sold on the first. So I’ll pass that.

  9. anyone else notice that the spyder/DROID RAZR or whatever its called looks very similar to the sony xperia X2 from the front? lol

  10. Needs to have a keypad replacement that looks like the RAZR Tron Keyboard
