Samsung TV Remote App Now Available for Galaxy S and Tab Devices

18

Samsung has just informed us that their TV Remote application is now available in the Android market for all Samsung Galaxy Tab and Samsung Galaxy S devices. (Don’t try searching for it on your non-Samsung phone as it won’t be there, nor will you be able to install it from the web.

The app allows you to control select WiFi-enabled models in Samsung’s line-up.

  • You can use the remote’s on-screen QWERTY keyboard to input necessary information for TV functions, control settings and Samsung Apps on the TV
  • A 4-way directional pad makes it easier to navigate apps
  • The application is compatible with a broad variety of 2010 models, including the LED C6500 series and higher, the LCD C650 series and higher, and the Plasma C6500 series and higher.  It will also support select 2011 smart TVs.

If you have a Galaxy S or Tab and a supported TV, then you should give this app a shot. It’s free and might make your life a bit easier. (I know I lose my remote a lot more than my phone.)  [Market Link]

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  5. The Logitech Revue’s app looks to be better at first glance. To bad I don’t have a Samsung TV to try this out on to get the real experience first hand.

  6. Why on earth is it limited to “Galaxy S” only ?

This means that Samsung fan holding other Galaxy version will not be able to use it. C’m’on, it is only a remote control sofware and not a “3D particule simulator” for the LHC !

  7. I’m waiting for the cable app they show on the iPad commercials. Then again, I’m also waiting for an official Netflix app.

  8. The bad news is it’s only for Froyo
    (just kidding!)

  9. haha.. you’re not kidding. Good luck running froyo and above if you have a samsung tv!

  10. Unbelievable that it says the Nexus S is not compatible! Grrr…

  11. Why sales executive at Samsung came up with the bonehead idea of locking this app to Samsung devices?

I don’t have a Samsung smartphone, but I was looking at spending almost $2K on a Samsung television. Now, I will NOT buy a Samsung.

Suck it, Samsung. You just lost a customer.

Now I have a remote for both living room and my room :D

  17. @11

  18. Ugh…just got a LCD 630 and I have a Captivate. Looks like I’m once again up &#(* creek without a paddle. Nice to know they still haven’t released official Froyo for my device yet.
