Virgin USA Getting the LG Optimus

8

Virgin Mobile hasn’t adopted Android with the biggest sense of urgency, but they’ve announced via Facebook that they’ll be receiving the LG Optimus. We’re not sure if it’s the original Optimus or the Optimus One – the one that most carriers have launched recently – but we’ve reached out for comment. Rumors also seem to peg its launch date as February 1st, but Virgin had nothing more to announce at the time other than the fact that they are getting it. [via Android Forums]

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. I’m seeing Optimus S here. Finally a decent starter phone for Virgin. $25 unlimited text and web, here I come

  2. Wow I guess…i never really put it together, kinda surprising actually.

  3. would be nice if it was the optimus one. 2 fairly decent android devices on sprints prepaid network not bad at all.

  4. its nice to hear them finally admit it. We all knew for a while but now its getting official status. Cant wait.

  5. Hmmm…makes sense that Virgin is getting another Android hand-me-down from Big Brother Sprint. I wonder if I’d chosen the LG if it was offered instead of the Samsung Intercept last month. I’d have appreciated Froyo out of the box as well as hard navigation keys, but would it have been worth the loss of 200mhz of processing power? The absence of a real keyboard wouldn’t have killed the deal since my first was a Nexus One, but the Intercept has since spoiled me.

  6. I can see Virgin Mobile getting this. What’s gonna be great is $25 unlimited text, web, e-mail, and 300 talk minutes on this thing!!!

  7. I looked on there facebook and it said nothing about it.

  8. i dont think it will be the LG GT540 becasue its not cdma and virgin mobile is cdma so im thinking its going to be the ld optimus one. i could be wrong tho.
