Samsung Galaxy Tab Price Plummets to $200 at US Cellular

If you have been bating your time waiting for the perfect Samsung Galaxy Tab deal, those within US Cellular’s domain will be pleased with a recent price reduction all the way down to $199.99 on a two-year agreement with a mail-in rebate. While the two-year contract is a bit of a drag, $200 is a price you really can’t ignore, especially considering the mass amounts of incredibly lame $200 Android tablets we see every week. Too bad for a 5GB plan with pay-as-you-go pricing you will be coughing up $54.99 per month. That’s not at all very appetizing, but we suppose that’s the give and take of it.

  1. I would avoid this like the plague, with Sammy’s rep on updating their phones and this one stuck on 2.2 (which is not ready for tablets), God knows how long it wil take to get Gingerbread

  2. Honestly even if you gave me one for free, I still wouldn’t want it if I had to be on contract with it. I just cannot afford another monthly data bill. I’m pretty sure I speak for a large number of people.

  3. ^ I disagree, have you used the Galaxy Tab? It is a very very nice device. With root available who needs to wait for samsung?

  4. US Cellular really sucks…Customer care is horrible and is a total oxymoran..cause they could care less!!! STAY AWAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!

  5. My comment was for Juan. I am waiting for the wifi version.

  6. In 2-3 months, the price will be close to ZERO for a tricked out, state of the art, dual processor Android tablet with a two-year commit.

  7. Wait for tablets pre-loaded with Honeycomb, it’s been designed for thtis format & the processor will be much better (dual core).

  8. I won’t touch a tablet until they’re sold wifi only. I don’t need a 3G tablet and shouldn’t be forced to get one if I want a tablet. Thats the main reason I will NOT get a Galaxy Tab even after they finally release a wifi only version. They could have released it on day 1 but chose not to just to appease the carriers.

  9. don’t make this any more awkward than it has to be……

  10. The galaxy tab has replaced my tmo G2. With the hacked version of skype I get unlimited phonecalls-call and recieve for $40 mo at tmo and 2.99 mo for skype.
The g2 cost me $90 mo. I lowered my tmo bill by $47 to 39.99mo for unlimited data and text.
The skype calls are crystal clear on speaker, headphones, or bluetooth on 3G.
Cost of ownership per year: G2: $1,080, the Galaxy Tab: $546
    including skype with internet number.

  11. wow what a disaster. this seems like epic fail, as steve jobs predicted! hes the man!

  13. sorry for the duplicate…:P

  14. They do sell wifi only tablets!

  15. $199 + $55×24 = $1520

Please Phandroid, do the maths, don’t write this as a $200 tablet, it’s a $1520 one.

  16. You know, I don’t think that’s such a bad deal. I’m seriously looking at U.S. Cellular right now. I’ve been with tmo for 5 years and have gone from a basic phone to a cliq and really want that tab. Almost all my friends are on us cellular anyway and their prices are better. Plus with them right now they’re giving phones away after the rebate, and I want a galaxy with a keyboard. I think tmo is going to have to come hard to top this deal, for real. Gotta love christmas!

  17. @Charbax You can’t really sum up the monthly payments are claim that it’s a $1520 tablet. As 55×24 + 199 will NEVER equal 1520 due to time value issues. Two years is a long time.
