Droid Pro is the Droid 2 World Edition?

At least a healthy amount of debate has gone into whether or not the Droid Pro listed in a leaked Verizon roadmap will be an all new device or simply the world edition of the Motorola Droid 2. Those hoping to score a Droid with even more power than the Droid X may be left waiting, as a new screenshot sheds some light on the current array of model numbers associated with the Droid 2 line, giving us confirmation that the A957 is indeed the R2-D2 version while the A956 will be the world edition of the phone.

While those facts alone don’t debunk the Droid Pro outright, further information received by Engadget seems to corroborate the fact that a device that could upstage the Droid X isn’t slated for anytime this year. Whether the Droid 2 world edition is branded as the Droid Pro or not remains to be seen.
