We first heard nearly a week ago that Motorola’s latest messaging phone – the Motorola Charm – had been delayed until August 25th due to issues with the battery. At that time, it was said Motorola would also gear up to provide extended batteries at a cheaper (or – in a best case scenario – free) cost for users that wanted the device and wouldn’t be able to bear the problems.
At least one part of that rumor’s starting to hold up true, with another new piece of the puzzle coming to light. TmoNews received an internal chart showing that the Motorola Charm will be facing an August 25th launch after all. There’s not much more to be known here, though, except for the fact that the device will also be offered in two colors: Cabernet and Golden Bronze. I’ll take the cabernet, please: the contradiction in “golden bronze” never ceases to annoy me.
At least Motorola and T-Mobile’s taking the time to step back and get things right, if there’s anything else positive to take out of this.
Maybe they should have stepped back and got the cliq right. Everyone do yourselves a favor and avoid motorola products like the plague. They don’t support phones not on verizon’s network. I wouldn’t trust them as far as I could throw them. And I will be replacing this outdated, incompatible cliq as soon as my budget permits.
I’m all for a boycott of Motorola. It’s such BS that they only support their high-end phones. So because I am with Tmo, I get screwed. Thanks a lot, Moto. I have heard that they want the Charm to be the first phone to run 2.1 with Motoblur, so the Cliq and the Cliq XT don’t get the update until the Charm comes out. Effing stupid. I understand that they want ppl to buy new phones, but what about those of us who just bought a phone and are nowhere near eligible for an upgrade? We can’t afford new hardware, so we don’t get new software either?
DON’T BUY ANYTHING FROM MOTOROLA!
@Aaron and @Angela I agree that that is unfair of them to leave early adopters high and dry. That said you can always root your phone and give yourselves the Froyo update. The rooting process has been made so easy that even the most non technical person could do it. So root your phones and show Motorola you don’t need no stinking update:) Root, Flash ,Enjoy!…..Live It, Love It, Android Life!
@dannydarko except with no drivers the 2.1 custom rom for the Cliq is going to stay alpha with much of the hardware not working. no sensors, camera etc… I would flash and never look back to Moto again if I could
@Aaron, I’m with ya on that one. I can’t wait to throw this cliq in the draw. Moto won’t get me again. :)
Welcome, to how manufacturers work. Cliq will get its update in August.
