Samsung Galaxy S Promo Site Is Up, Could Be Headed to Verizon

20

Yesterday, we were paid a visit by some aliens in a white spaceship claiming to be from the planet Samsung. They touched down to tell us that their mothership – the Samsung Galaxy S – would be landing soon and we had better be well prepared. Today, that message was rebroadcast to everyone over the internet in the form of a website.

The site doesn’t tell us anything we don’t already know, but you can sign up to learn more about the device (hopefully this includes an email notification letting us know when the phone’s set to come out at the speed of light). Oh, and one more thing… (sorry, I had to considering yesterday was Steve Jobs day.)

…A user over at Howard Forums is suggesting that Verizon could be getting the device sooner than we thought. Apparently, a CDMA version has gone into design now that the GSM version is about to come out. We’re not sure how trustworthy the information is seeing as anyone can say anything over the internet, so we’ll leave the speculation up to you.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. Pretty cool. Nice to see some android news again after the apple field day yesterday.

  2. CDMA as well as GSM? This is going everywhere!

  3. When i asked a t-mobile rep about the Nexus one, he said it wouldn’t be coming (i’m doubting that)but said to keep an eye out the the “samsung galaxy” hmmmmm

  4. Now here’s hoping that IF AT&T gets it they don’t neuter it.

  5. i got word from one of our sprint corporate guys that sprint will be getting a version of the galaxy s this cummer and it will have a qwerty keyboard.. its supposed to be the replacement for the moment as the evo was the replacement for the hero.. and he said sprint will also be getting an LG android phone.

  6. yes!!!! my prayers were heard! id dump my incredible for this baby.

  7. I know the Galaxy S is known to be T-mo bound but i just cant see them getting it.

  8. Sorry Evo, this is FTW!!!

  9. funny how the US version is being kept so secretively. Atleast for Tmo and ATT its not a matter of IF but WHEN. Just give us a damn date so we can start saving up for this expensive beast! Oh and VZW has no room whatsoever for this phone with all the DROIDs they have/will have. I don’t see them selling this thing this year.

  10. I am waiting for this phone on Verizon. This is the one I want!

  11. galaxy+qwerty= my dream come true

  12. I’ll wait patiently for my Incredible :) This phone does look awesome, but I REALLY would like a flash for the camera.

  13. @uly….Mayb e you can’t see them getting it but they ARE!! The device has already been seen running T-Moible proprietary apps. Get ready for one of the best Android phones poised to release this year and T-Mobile’s getting it first.

  14. See Verizon gets all the goodies. While AT&T gets a crappier version of the Galaxy which is NOT THE S. I’m getting fed up with AT&T AND THEIR LOVE FOR APPLE Iphone 4.

I hope you’re not pulling our leg on this, this is serious you know. I really want the Galaxy S with a QWERTY.

    How reliable is this info?

  16. I swear… if Verizon gets this phone then me and T mobile are officially DONE… Verizon gets EVERYTHING! Ive had it with T mobile! They got the FIRST Android Phone and after that, they have NOTHING and all the late bloomers get the newest and best phones *cough* Droid Incredible, EVO 4G *cough*. All im asking is for T mobile to get ONE quality phone that sells in STORES.

  17. i saw in a korean news that samsung is releasing this phone world wide to 110 wireless phone carriers in over 100 countries at the same time. I’m pretty sure this includes all 4 major US carriers: verizon, at&t, t-mobile, and sprint, with a slight difference in design for each carrier. I really wanna know when this phone will come out!

  18. @Paul
I’m also hoping to see a version of this with a flash. I don’t get why they would put so many high-end features into this, then leave one easy one out.

  19. Good. I for one am getting seriously fed up with waiting for the Galaxy S. I even bought a Dell Streak which I returned as it feels too unfinished and prototype for my taste and now I’m eyeing up the HTC Desire.

I only have one lot of spare cash and if the Galaxy S doesn’t make it to the shops very soon – I am not blessed with infinite patience – the cash will already have been spent. There are too many contenders for my money now and within the next few weeks, but only one of them will get it. I suspect that there are thousands of others in the same situation.

If it isn’t possible to purchase a sim free Galaxy S – not a virtual one or a youtube video showing one but an actual physical phone I can hold within the next couple of weeks then I’m going to write off the idea of getting a Galaxy S as exceeding the limits of my patience and I’ll get a HTC Desire instead.
