Dell Gets Even Crazier With Their Latest Roadmap, Now Featuring the Sparta and Athens
As I sit here typing this, I can’t help but wonder what’s gotten into Dell recently: at one point, everyone was ready to count them out of the mobile phone and devices game for good. To everyone’s surprise, though, they’ve bounced back with unbelievable velocity and they aren’t showing any signs of slowing down.
AndroidCentral dug up more Dell goodies for us to drill more info (or speculation) out of. A pair of netbooks – something we’d expect to see from Dell given their traditional laptop background – have cropped up this time around, though. Named the Athens and the Sparta, these netbooks are Dell’s first attempt at the Android game in this light.
As far as the Athens goes, it’s an 11-inch netbook that swivels, has bluetooth, 3G, and WiFi for your data and connectivity needs, and has an ARM processor. The Sparta, on the other hand, seems to be the same thing except Dell classifies it as a “netbook tablet”, which we’ll assume has a touchscreen, as well.
The most interesting thing about this roadmap is that the Moblin logo also appears for the “medium” and “XL” categories. We could see Dell offering multiple configurations of these same devices, but we don’t care about those other configurations, of course: we only want all the ‘droid we can handle. By the end of 2011, we should see Dell stocking a nice assortment of Android devices. Will you be there to help thrust them into the mobile game like they’ve been longing to do?
