If you regularly use Microsoft’s OneDrive cloud storage service, then you might want to know that the company recently launched an update that lets users access OneDrive while offline. The new feature works via browser and according to Microsoft “brings both significant speed improvements and offline capabilities.” when using OneDrive in your favorite browser.

As mentioned on the tin, OneDrive’s offline mode basically lets folks continue working even without internet. Users can browse OneDrive structure in views like “Home” and “My files,” see file details, and even manage them within “My files” by renaming, sorting, moving, or copying. Edits to both locally available offline files and supported apps like Office will be automatically synced when a user reconnects.

Additionally, OneDrive’s new offline mode offers benefits even when connected. Users can directly manage offline availability of files and folders through OneDrive web, and even free up local storage by marking things as “online-only.” Additionally, users can expect up to three times faster loading times when interacting with files via the browser or integrated apps such as Teams and Outlook.

Offline mode is now rolling out globally to OneDrive work and school users.
