Google and Huawei finally admit the Huawei Watch has a speaker, so where’s the Android Wear update?

Google and Huawei were content with pretending that a speaker wasn’t quietly shoved into the compact chassis of the Huawei Watch, but they’re finally making the admission on the Google Store. The Huawei Watch’s speaker is now listed as one 4 of its key features.

This is significant because — to our knowledge — Android Wear still doesn’t have speaker support. Listing a speaker as a key feature without speaker support seems rather silly, so one can only come to the conclusion that we’re in for a big Android Wear update at some point in the near future.

Huawei wasn’t the only watch maker to suddenly begin incorporating speakers into their devices, with ASUS and LG doing the same. And then someone actually got full speaker support on their Huawei Watch in what appeared to be a test update erroneously pushed out to a random device.

So, it’s pretty obvious that some sort of speaker functionality is on its way, and with Google updating marketing materials to reflect that then it’s safe to say that we won’t have to wait much longer.
