Sprint also experiencing difficulties with the Galaxy S3, delays coming

13

Here we go again. Just when we start feeling a bit better about T-Mobile’s Galaxy S3 launch difficulties, more bad news hit our inbox. Sprint is in the same boat, and has just announced that they are “a little behind on deliveries.”

But at least this does not apply to all customers. It seems the 16 GB version is right on track, with it becoming available from the Sprint website and telesales this Thursday, June 21st. Pre-ordered 16 GB Galaxy S3 devices will also start shipping this week. Those who pre-ordered the 32 GB beast will have to wait until next week, though.

Due to overwhelming demand and limited supply for Sprint’s Samsung Galaxy S III, we are running a little behind on deliveries. The 16GB version of Samsung Galaxy S III device will be available in Web Sales and Telesales (1-800-SPRINT1) beginning on Thursday, June 21. It will be in all remaining sales channels next week.

We are optimistic that we’ll be shipping all Samsung Galaxy S III-16GB pre-orders this week and that they will be delivered by June 21 as anticipated. There is a chance, however, that we may be a day or two late. We anticipate shipping all Samsung Galaxy S III-32GB pre-orders next week. To check the status of your pre-order, please visit www.sprint.com/myorder.

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate the patience of our customers as we work through this minor delay in availability. We know that many of you are eager to experience the next generation of the Samsung Galaxy series on the only network to provide unlimited data plans to new and existing customers. Should this situation change, we will continue to update this post as we have new information to share.

If it serves as any clue, though, our friends from Wirefly have informed us that the official release date is now scheduled for June 28th. Regardless, we should be seeing the devices showing up at stores next week. We will be here hoping that everything goes as smoothly as possible. It is a sad day, indeed, but what else can a desperate geek do?

  1. I want to cry!! I ordered a 32g…but I guess I’d rather take the one week delay than have the 16g. It’s disappointing, but now I can stop obsessively checking the Sprint order page looking for a tracking number.

  2. Did anyone expect this to go smoothly? I sure didn’t.

  3. It very clearly states that the 16 gb will be in all other sales channels next week meaning retail stores…??? Why would you say that there is no idea when it will hit stores???

    1. Sorry, meant that for the 32 GB version. Fixed the article to make it a bit more clear. Thanks!

  4. I guess the silver lining in all of these delays is the “huge demands” the S3 is generating. Android FTW.

  5. Nothing with Samsung goes smoothly.

  6. Well I expected this to happen with Samsung having 9 million preorders… but it still made me a little bit sad. Just a little though.

  7. Great. I spent more money for the 32 GB version and pre-ordered the morning it opened up. What did that get me? Another damn week of waiting. I should have just cheaped out and got the 16 GB version. I’d be 50 bucks richer and have my phone this week. Piss on you Sprint. This is why you lose customers all the time. You make promises and break them way too often. It is almost unbelievable how badly that company is run. Even more unbelievable that it’s still in business.

    1. Chill out. It’s just one week, and it’s just a phone, and it’s not Sprint’s fault as the supply is out of their control. It’s not like they wanted to screw people who are all hyped over this phone…

    2. Newsflash, it’s not only Sprint that’s seeing the delays. A little logic will tell you that it’s a supply side issue…i.e. Samsung that’s behind this snafu, NOT the carriers.

  8. 16gb ones are NOT on track. They likely won’t be shipping until Thursday, and since Sprint is a bunch of d-bags, they’re just shipping them UPS ground instead of overnight delivery. So we’ll be getting them next week.

  9. The thing I hate about Sprint is not that the phone is delayed, because that is obviously not their fault, but the absolute lack of communication about it to those of us who pre-ordered. even late yesterday when I contacted them (and I have ordered a 32gb model) they kept saying “it should be shipped within the next 24-48 hours. You know, don’t bullcrap your customers. Had they just said the phone is delayed, I would have been satisfied, but to constantly BS me, that just pisses me off. Sprint, be honest about it!

  10. I got my tracking # for my marble white 32gb,and it says 2nd day air,i guess i was one of the lucky 34 .
