Add Gigabyte’s name to the list of companies having a go at making Android tablets with models due out by the end of the year. The Taiwanese manufacturer’s plans include 7 and 10-inch devices as well as a dual-bootable tablet featuring both Android and Windows 7 (the Windows-only S1080 is pictured above). These tablets should be among the first to utilize Intel’s Atom processor geared towards tablets, with the 7 and 10-inch models launching in July. They will run the increasingly outdated Android 2.2 and Android 3.0 Honeycomb respectively. The first two Android models will be followed in October by the dual-boot model.
The only other spec revealed is more a lack of spec: the devices definitely won’t have a USB port. While no price is set, Senior Vice President Richard Ma said the aim is to keep them priced below $400 US. Of the group, we are most interested in the dual-boot version, as the concept has been tried preciously and yet to really catch on on.

this has me really excited…i can see myself getting one, i want a dual boot so i can do my work that on programs that won’t run on android quit yet…

I’d like to see a convertible lap/tab… win 7 with keyboard in laptop orientation, then flip the screen around and then android in tablet form…
The Lenovo IdeaPad U1 was originally supposed to be that, but checking Lenovo’s site now it looks like they might have switched gears. What used to be a hybrid is now being listed as a Win7 only hybrid tablet/laptop.
*argh* I hope they didn’t change it again -__-;; I’ve been waiting for this damn thing to get released!!! :/

Although it is a good concept, I don’t know why someone would want a dual-boot tablet if Android gets the job done. Having windows in it will just add to the price.
