An OLED iPad Mini is in the Works, Rumors Claim

The launch of the iPad Mini 7th gen back in 2024 proved that Apple can easily repackage an older tablet with a handful of new upgrades and come up with a “new” device in its roster. If you were holding off on getting it, then you might want to wait a bit longer if you want a true upgrade, at least according to new rumors online.

A post from noted tech leaker Digital Chat Station on Chinese social media website Weibo claims that Apple is “evaluating” the use of an OLED panel on an upcoming iPad Mini successor, which will supposedly launch in 2026. If true, this will be the first true display upgrade for the iPad Mini line in a while, which has used LCD screens since the launch of the very first model. Apple usually reserves its OLED panels for more expensive iPads such as the Pro models.

Last year’s iPad Mini 7 featured upgrades such as a newer chipset, more RAM and support for Apple Intelligence, although it retained a number of features such as the same overall design and display specifications, to name a couple.
