Dungeon Defenders: First Wave Now Free to Play on the Android Market

The folks at Trendy have just dropped us a note letting us know that their highly popular action RPG Dungeon Defenders: First Wave is now a free game for all to play and enjoy in the Android market. The news comes to us in light of the launch of Google’s native in-app payments system for Android.

Trendy is now banking on in-app purchases to make money since Google’s made it easier for users to carry out micro-transactions. The game itself has remained the same so if you were holding off on trying it out due to its $5 price tag then you’ll want to head over to the Android market. [Note: web-based market does not yet reflect this change. Search for it using the Android market application on your phone.]

It would be in their good interested to provide the early adopters with a $5 credit towards the in-game shop.

The Galaxy S line has a better graphics processing unit.

I know. To me, those 2 phones are not that far apart to call one high end and the other mid range.

I’ve sent them an email asking if we, early adopters, would get a refund or in-app credit.
Gonna wait 2 days before sending a rant email.
We paid the same price Tegra 2 users have paid, but we have no kind of extra! And now they go on and release it for free! Even worst, now we will have to pay to get that “special” item that is essencial to advance the game or status. I hate freemium software.

Am I the only one that finds this game kind of … well boring? It’s more like a tower of defense game but more difficult to setup. I don’t know if there is more than one level because I cannot get past the fist stage.

BTW Early adopters paid $2.5 not $5.

Trendy has stated on their forum that they are going to hook up the people who paid. How many games do you know that can matchmaker PC, PS3, iPhone and Android? None. Why because it is too hard. Someone did and is giving you their game for FREE and all you can do is complain. #AssHat

I’m still a little bitter about this game.

I bought it right when it released based off of the compatibility list they shared a few days beforehand (http://www.droidgamers.com/index.php/game-news/android-game-news/996-dungeon-defenders-first-wave-officially-coming-to-android-dec-23 available here and in other places) that said my Droid Incredible would be “fully compatible”. They didn’t really draw attention to the fact that the compatibility list was cut down significantly a week later. It’s virtually unplayable on my Incredible, even OC’d. Now, I understand that the Adreno 200 in it isn’t that good, but a WEEK before release they stated it’d be fully compatible.

That, combined with the fact that the post-installation download takes longer than the fifteen minutes allowed for Marketplace refunds and that my requests for a refund were completely ignored, has cooled me off to anything Trendy puts out in the near future.

something is wrong with your incredible, before I got a tbolt I played this game and it was smooth as silk, no porblems at all. You might want to look at why it runs like shit. This also runs perfect on my nook color and tbolt.

Other people with Incredibles and Evos have reported the same issues. Happens regardless of the ROM I’m running. Other games run great.
