Minor Android 2.1 Update Issued for the Telus Motorola Milestone

Still no word when the Milestone might be getting Froyo, but a minor update to the Android 2.1 software has been issued to deal with bug fixes and overall improvements to the OS. The update is being pushed over the air, but if you are impatient and want to get your Milestone up to the latest firmware right away, you can head over to Motorola’s site and download it for manual installation.

You’ll get an improved alarm, better music player functionality, audio quality enhancements, and more along with the fresh update. It isn’t Android 2.2 by a long shot, so don’t think you can stop envying the Droid owners down south in the States just yet. Hopefully your wait won’t be too much longer, though.

  1. Well, this is the update for 2.1 UK & France (and thus majority of Europe too) is waiting for, and which will bring 2.1 to usable state (read no random reboots when you get a SMS or a call or you have a phone sitting on desk).

HTC, release that phone with physical keyboard, Motorola doesn’t deserve to survive. They make superb hardware, but on software level they are at deep bottom (they are able to screw up Android and not even let users fix it for them).

  2. I got the update for the 2.1 a couple of days ago in the UK on my now debranded T-Mobile G2,can’t see what it does apart from remove a load of icons on the phone

  3. @Chris: 2.1 update for other phones has nothing to do with bugfix update of Milestone.

  4. when will milestone get FroYo!?!?! September?!?!?!?

  5. I checked with a Telus representative, and he said that according to the Motorola update sheet, the Milestone will receive Froyo by the end of August!

  6. Moustafa, that is very hard to believe as Motorola EU didn’t even finished with this 2.1-fix update in Europe.

Honestly, at this point, I’ll just allow myself to hope.
Worse case scenario, I’ll look into custom ROMS.
