China has long been known for a few things. Smog. Communism. And cheap knockoffs. Unsurprisingly enough, an Android themed store in Zuhai, Guangdong popped up, the very same district where Apple is currently battling against a company over the iPad trademark. Even if they aren’t as lavish as the “Androidland” that recently popped up in Australia, I think every city could use a dedicated Android shop.
At first glance, I thought it was kind of cool to see an Android store (the store’s name loosely translated reads: “celebrities smartphone experience store) showcasing the latest from Google’s mobile OS. But, in what could be seen as nothing short of blasphemous to the die-hard Android fanboy, you’ll see this little shop is also selling iPhone’s and Apple accessories. Gotta make that yuan, yo.
How would you guys feel if real Android shops began popping up in your neighborhood (selling only Android products of course)? Would something like this even be feasible with all the Android variants out there?
Its china, there iPhones run android
because they’d be better if they did anyway
please consider this my official announcement that my jimmies have in fact been rustled.
Their, not there nor they’re. Their – adj. of or relating to them or themselves especially as possessors, agents, or objects of an action. j/k…
their – adj???
confused..
Short for adjective. It’s a grammar term. Adjectives are words that describe or modify another person or thing in the sentence.
I’m sorry, but “their” is NOT an adjective. It´s a possessive pronoun.
Now let’s open up an Amazon store containing all that Amazon sells and put even Super Wal-Mart to shame!
No thanks, then we’d have to pay sales tax.
Yeah, but we wouldn’t have to pay shipping ;)
Amazon offers free 3-5 day shipping for orders over $25; I’d rather not pay sales tax, especially on large orders
Hilarious!!
It’s like a sin against nature.
…or, or, maybe this will be the beginnings of a movement that finally brings peace between the two ecosystems.;o)
We can dream
I think this sort of store really wouldn’t have much to sell in the US, since there are so few Android specific accessories. Most accessories are device specific(screen protectors, chargers, skins, etc). However, if/when the Android Open Accessory market ever takes off, then this might be feasible. Until then, we’ll have to make do with the plethora of generic mobile accessory kiosks that blanket every shopping center in America.
I just saw Best Buy open their BB Mobile store in a mall. It’s dedicated to phones, tablets and accessories. It was right across from the VZW and ATT kiosks and the cellphone charm guy. Guess which got my business?
My money is on the charm guy.
I think it would be great. They would just need access to the carriers systems like Bestbuy.
If an Android shop were ever set up, they’ve have to have it in three sections. First section, outback in the dumpster, where they showcase all their shitty phones. Tier two in the store, the mid-tier phones. Tier three, the flagships, atop a pedestal, where the buyer walks on iphones to ascend and behold the Samsung Galaxy S3
You had me until they were ascending to the gs3 haha
(they are actually grabbing htc one series ;)
I love the idea of a carrier agnostic store to go compare devices.
We already have that, it’s called Best Buy. You can go into Best Buy and check out all the phones from all the carriers. Plus you can see all the tablets. Radio Shack has this to an extent. I don’t think they have all the carriers and all the tablets like Best Buy does. Don’t quote me on that, I spend much more time in Best Buy than I do in Radio Shack.
I personally think it would be neat to have an Android store to feature all of the products it offers. The only problem is that all of the products that use Android are country specific so I don’t think an Android store anywhere could show all of the devices.
Crazy man we need a store in the states
Its possible get a contract with every carrier and only stock the android devices. Then on top sell the wifi only devices. And android robot accesories. I think it can be somthing.
this android store looks better than the crapple stores. i couldnt stand the rich snotty pretentious atmosphere just walking by a crapple store.
It should and will happen at some point in the US.
The ANDROID store in Melbourne has an iPad on display. Pretty pathetic for a store called Android Land…. but then again it is run by Telstra and they have yet to touch something with out Fing it up!
i would be so broke haha
Smart…. get the Apple fans to go buy a new case, and see how awesome Android is.
Well, maybe not, but either way, that store is getting money from both Android users and Apple users.
It’s only possible in China! Its to honour those Chines children who worked hard for Apple!
