The BlackBerry-style portrait QWERTY design has become a popular option for mid to high-end Android handsets aimed at the business user, but Sprint is set to bring the form factor in at a much more affordable level. Unlike their more refined Motorola XPRT, the Sprint Express will be a low-end Android 2.3 device featuring a 2.6-inch display, 600MHz CPU, and 3.2MP camera. The specs are a far cry from the dual-core beasties we have come to crave, but it creates an affordable option at only $19.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate.

What an ugly Android device….hands down!
But if you are a Blackberry user who wants to switch, that’s love at fist sight.
I was getting ready to say the same thing. My mother wants a “simple smart phone” to upgrade from her Blackberry, so this may just be what she needs. And at the price, still not bad.
You crack me up man. Hahaha I agree with you but there are people out there that like it. I have a friend that might be crazy about this. I am a little skeptical about the 600MHz. At least put a 1GHz.
Miserable.
Since not everyone is a geek or a fanboy, I’m sure there will be people that would find a phone like this just fine. Like older non-technical people. I have never thought the cost of the phone was that important as its the two year contract (voice/text/data) that can add up to almost $2000 if you get a plan that gives you everything.
I think the bigger problem is going to be the resolution of the screen in 12 months. At 2.6″, it will be running 320×240 at best, which is already running out it’s life on the obsolete tab. Pretty soon, Apps won’t be programmed to run on a QVGA screen and owners will be screwed in to upgrading.
This seems like a good phone for the kids for texting, but unless they are waiving the $10 fee, a Replenish seems like a much better option for all.
I think that’s also what’s known as the Orange Barcelona in the U.K. Or as the actual name is, the ZTE Boulder. It looks very similar, I’d be surprised if it wasn’t.
Even without contract its a deal, i saw it on beigephone for $59.99
My girlfriend will adore this
This looks identical to the Huawei U8350 that WIND Mobile just launched in Canada:

Of course it would have to be a CDMA variant.
