Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc Being Made Available Unlocked in the US for $600 This August’

Sony Ericsson has announced impending availability of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc here in the United States. It’s slated to land this August, but not through any subsidy opportunities. Various online outlets, such as Amazon and Newegg, as well as Sony themselves will be offering it for $600.

Unfortunately, they didn’t even mention what type of radios would be inside but we can’t imagine any CDMA users will be able to use it. Look for this one to be aimed at T-Mobile and AT&T customers. We’ve got to admit – we’d hoped this thing would make its way stateside under better terms. Unfortunately, none of our carriers saw room for it in their lineup this year. Read on for full press details.

  1. 600 bucks for something that is not equipped with dual core -> FAIL….. HTC Sensation or SGS II is a much much better choice

    1. not everyone needs dual core…(personally i dont think many people REALLY need dualcore. complete overkill in 99% of situations) people have different requirements from their handset. a lot of people dont like samsungs or HTC interfaces or designs. this is a stunning phone and the processor is more than capable.. the htc and SGS II are ugly as sin. youre paying for the beautiful design and the best camera on a smart phone currently available. and i dont think the sgs II is even out in america so thats not really an option anyway…

      1. Quit using the word “need” on a cell phone blog.

  2. ouch… they gotta lower the price a bit… but they can’t really do that w/o pissing off anyone who bought it recently…

  3. Newegg is already selling the phone for $549 in either silver or blue.

  4. It’s quad band GSM: Wireless Radio: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz UMTS 800 / 850 / 1900 / 2100 MHz

    1. So not really for Tmo users. Which if we look at past relationships, isn’t much of a surprise.

  5. I own both HTC Sensation and Arc. Surprisingly, Arc feels faster. I think the hardware acceleration is kicking in. Also, it has the better display and camera.

    1. Well considering the Sensation is a major piece of shit, I can under stand you liking the less smelly of two turds.

  6. First I wanted and still sorta want this phone. Price to high and not to sure on processor?
