Nexus S Heads to Italy

14

Italy’s finally confirmed to be getting the Nexus S according to HDBlog.it. Costing 549 euros, the phone isn’t much different from the one released here in the states and I’m willing to guess it won’t be much different from the version that all regions will eventually carry. If you need a refresher, though, this thing runs stock Android 2.3, has a 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird processor, a 4-inch S-AMOLED display, 16GB of internal storage, and more. [via Samsung Hub]

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. Nexus S/Italy has a Super SLCD display no Super AMOLED.

  2. No superamoled and the usual dollar-euro conversion… Expensive to say the least.

  3. OUCH! Almost $750 USD for a Nexus S?! Did they replace the cheap plastic with 904L staionless steel?

  5. Sorry, but here in italy nexus s will have slcd display and not super amoled!:-(

  6. Infact, this is what things cost in europe.
Come here to Norway and find it for only 1000$ if you are lucky ;)

  7. I don’t understand why Samsung believe that italians are so stupid. No S-AMOLED, a “normal” S-LCD and 549 euro?!?!?
Dear Samsung, i hope that your Italian Nexus S will be not sell at all.
    That’s incredible!

  8. Damn that’s expensive. I guess thats why they are selling for so much on ebay. I was thinking about selling mine and just buying another one from best buy.

And dj you say it’s cheap but it doesn’t feel cheap to me. I don’t get what the craze is these days. Where It’s cheap when it’s not made from metal.

  9. WTF!?
Samsung uses LCD from *Sony* on their own hardware??
..That’s insane.. @pocketAM just curious what’s your source?

(And btw, GGs for the Euro-Dollar exchange rate applied)

To be fair, I honestly dont know what the strength/flexibility/modulus of elasticisty, etc. is in the plastic Samsung uses in the Nexus S. It may be very strong and durable. I simply meant that they “felt” cheap to me when I hold one in my hand. Metal DEFINITELY doesnt always equal more durable, if so, thermoplastics wouldnt be used in aircraft, etc. I simply meant that to me, personally, they *feel* cheap. I wasnt implying that the NS is cheap or junk, not at all! I still wish they put an SD card slot in them for my purposes though.

  12. that’s 550 euros to OWN it, not rent it for 2 years like on US networks

in ustralia, ALL phones on contract are free

  13. *Australia :p

  14. Also remember than in Europe published consumer prices must include VAT (about 20% as a minimum in most countries). In the US sales taxes are lower, and are added to the list price only when you pay, rather than being published.
