After Motorola revealed a bunch of awesome products yesterday – among them the Motorola Moto G 2015 – we shared with you a list of everything you needed to know. Now that the dust has settled and we’ve safely escorted the Moto G back to our domicile, we felt it appropriate to have a little chat about this very capable device.
Let’s candidly discuss some of the top takeaways:
- The Moto G 2015 is available for purchase right now
- It’s now customizeable on Moto Maker. Choose the face color (White or Black), rear color (10 choices), accent color (10 choices), and add optional engravings and extra shells
- It’s only $179
- For $40 extra, you’ll get 8GB extra storage and 1GB extra RAM
- The microSD slot lists a capacity of 32GB but we think it’ll support 128GB if pressed
- The 5-inch screen and curved back give it a great feel
- The 720p resolution will be fine for most, but flagship lovers will notice the downgrade
- The 720p resolution will also be the reason your battery lasts much, much longer
- 13MP rear, 5MP front camera are noticeably awesome values (Last year: 8MP/2MP)
- IPX7 Water Resistance and Gorilla Glass 3 mean it’s built to last (all phones should have this)
One question everyone will surely be asking: is it worth upgrading from the Moto G 2014 to the Moto G 2015? It certainly seems that way, but everyone has different needs, so we suggest asking with details of your specific situation in the Moto G 2015 Forums.
I’ve been carrying around the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge since April 10th and I have to say that comparably the Moto G feels a lot more chunky and clunky, but it’ll also save you about $600. It’s all an interweaving web of pros, cons, and difficult decisions.
