Samsung Galaxy Note 4 owners on T-Mobile have had it rough. They’ve had to sit and watch as Android 5.0 Lollipop rolled out to the Samsung Galaxy S5 in February, only to hit the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in March. Even though we knew Lollipop was coming (it had already rolled out to the Note 4 on Sprint), it’s only today that we know exactly when we can expect that rollout to begin.
T-Mobile Product Manger Des Smith revealed on Twitter today that Android 5.0.1 Lollipop for the Note 4 (N910) has officially been green lit by T-Mobile, and that a rollout should commence sometime next week. Keep in mind that the update does not include the all new, super streamlined TouchWiz that appeared on the Samsung Galaxy S6 or Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. It likely never will. We also hope all those bugs Lollipop brought to other Galaxy devices have all been ironed out.

Is it the same touch wiz on the s6?
No unfortunately it’s not. Same as the one on the note 4. My girl has the note 4 and for some reason my note 3 has way less lag than hers. Think her qhd screen is the culprit
My wife has the note 4 and its smooth as George clooney after a couple sips of Hennessey.

Apparently they updated to the Note 3 to S5 UI, but nobody is getting S6 TouchWiz anytime soon :/
… Maybe its to drive up sales? This completely turns me off. HTC does it, as well as other OEM’s. Well I guess I’m going to get the G4.
This is one of the reasons that this Note 4 is my last Samsung Device. I’m actually hoping HTC or LG can make a “Note” type device with good stylus options and do it justice. I love my Note 4 but f*** Samsung. Some of their decisions just baffle me and I can’t support them any longer.

Nope. I used to be that guy feverishly checking for updates as soon as they were announced. After the absolute shitstorm of Android 4.3 on the Galaxy S3, which saddled millions of users with dozens of bugs, freezing, and dismal battery drainage issues, I vowed to never again be so stupid as to get an update as soon as it comes out. Everyone else can bed the town hooker without a condom if they want. I don’t mind waiting a couple of months for the reports to surface and issues to get solved (or not solved).
This is one of the reasons why I root my Android devices. In addition to the many many other reasons I could name, I can just as easily go right back to the ROM and version I was using before, data and all.

The Verizon Note 4 update reduced my battery life by about 40%. As the long battery life was one of my favorite features, I’m really mad about that! It also got rid of the ringer/vibrate/silent controls from the power-button shortcut window. Overall it was a downgrade for me.
