Who said the Moto Maker only ever had to be for the Moto X? Motorola is apparently getting ready to jump back into the tablet game after being the very first OEM to release an Android 3.0+ tablet. That much was revealed by CEO Dennis Woodside, who spilled the beans to the folks at Engadget.
Woodside didn’t have much else to say, of course, but he did leave open the possibility that the Moto Maker could eventually be used to customize this yet-to-be-realized tablet, noting that customization is the way of the future.
There’s no doubt Motorola has some genius engineers in a research and development lab somewhere cooking up the next American-made wonder for the mobile world, and we’ll be front and center to see what’s in store for us whenever they’re ready to unveil it. In the meantime, let us know if you’d buy a Motorola tablet that could be customized through the Moto Maker in the comments section below.
man I hope they make a 8 or 9″ version. I might have to hold out on getting the lg g pad if their tablet is 8″.
Moto X is a pretty solid feeling phone (my co-worker has one) – I would love to see a tablet offering.

When thinking customization, remember that they can only build with parts on hand, and will only stocks parts that have sufficient sales potential to justify it. They’re limited by physical constraints, too. Casings are easy. Memory should not be a problem. Battery is trickier because of size differences. Processors are not likely because they have technical issues that could require a different system board for each version.
In time, they might be able to broaden the parameters of what they can customize, but for now, keep expectations within the bounds of the practical.
I hope the Moto Maker for that Moto X Tablet is outside the AT&T exclusives.
Sorry I gotta go with the surface pro. All other tablets are just big phones that you can’t make a call on.

I haven’t had a tablet I like just because of build quality. I think Moto is going to solve that problem.
How do you feel about the iPad’s aluminum unibody?
Too brittle and easily scratched.
What I like about scratches on aluminum, is that at least the color doesn’t change. grey on the outside, grey under a scratch.
