If you are using one of Samsung’s newer flagship phones or plan to get the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 or Flip 6 foldables, note that they will come with Galaxy AI. This is basically Samsung’s take on AI and just as a reminder, Galaxy AI will remain free until the end of 2025.
This is according to an announcement by Samsung where they are showcasing the features of Galaxy AI. At the footnote of the website, they mention that Galaxy AI will remain free until the end of 2025. We already knew that Samsung had plans to start charging for its use, but it’s good to be reminded that it won’t be free forever.
That being said, it doesn’t necessarily mean that Samsung will start charging in 2026. There is a chance Samsung could prolong the free period, but we’ll have to wait and see. Also, this doesn’t mean that the entire Galaxy AI will be locked behind a paywall or subscription. We imagine that Samsung will probably keep some basic features free, while more advanced features would require a subscription.
Samsung isn’t alone in charging for its AI services. There was a recent Bloomberg report that suggests that Apple could do the same for its Apple Intelligence features, but it is unclear when this is expected to start. With all the demand for AI, it would be silly for companies to miss out on all this potential services revenue.
