ChatGPT will no longer require you to have an account

If you want to use OpenAI’s ChatGPT, you will need to create an account with the platform. It’s not a big deal, but it creates a barrier of entry for users who’d rather not submit more personal information online. Thankfully, that is no longer the case as OpenAI will no longer require users to have an account.

This was announced on the OpenAI blog where they confirmed that users will no longer have to create an account in order to use ChatGPT. The company claims that this is done in order to make its AI tool more accessible around the world. They also note that this change is being rolled out gradually.

If you do not have an OpenAI account and you still see it being required to use ChatGPT, it means that it hasn’t reached your region yet, but it will eventually. Of course, OpenAI isn’t doing this to make your life easier. Sure, that may be a side-effect of that intention, but by getting more people to use its AI, they have more data to train it with.

OpenAI does note on its blog that they may use the information to submit to ChatGPT to train and improve its models. They also point out that users will have the option to not have their information used for training purposes if they don’t want to.
