Upcoming Pixel 8 update will give it a gaming boost

0

A lot of people play games on their smartphones these days, and for the most part, most chipsets are more than capable of handling the majority of mobile titles. That being said, obviously some run better than others, and if you own the Pixel 8 and think it could use a bump in gaming performance, you’re in luck.

According to a post on X by TechDroider, it seems that the latest Android 14 QPR2 Beta 1.1 will see Google issue an update to the Mali GPU used in the Pixel 8 phones. This update seems to improve the gaming performance of the handset, where it appears that games like Epic’s Fortnite will be able to maintain a steady 60 fps with max graphics enabled.

This is a huge deal because prior to this, the game at max settings only managed a paltry 15 fps, so this update seems to boost the performance of the handset’s GPU considerably. Other games also seem to be benefiting from this update, so if you’re forced to lower the graphics settings on your Pixel 8 while gaming due to choppy graphics, then this is the update for you.

That being said, since this is the beta update not everyone will be able to access it just yet, so hopefully it won’t be too long until Google releases it to the public.
