The Samsung Galaxy S24 lineup won’t be getting a RAM upgrade

0

If you’re hoping to see RAM upgrades come to the Galaxy S24 series from Samsung, prepare to be disappointed as the latest rumors from Ice Universe claims that Samsung will not be doing that.

Instead, the base Galaxy S24 is expected to come with just 8GB of RAM with no upgradeable options, while the Galaxy S24+ will also come with 8GB of RAM but there will be a more expensive version with 12GB, and interestingly enough, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will also follow suit with an 8GB RAM base with a 12GB option to upgrade.

It’s kind of weird because other handset makers have been more than happy to include more RAM on their phones, with many going with 16GB of RAM or even more. Samsung has oddly stayed away from going down that route, and honestly it’s not necessarily a bad thing.

As it stands the Samsung Galaxy S23 series is one of the fastest Android phones in the market right now, even though on paper it has less RAM compared to other flagship Android devices. Obviously having more RAM wouldn’t hurt as having the extra headroom could come in handy for certain situations, but at the end of the day as long as the OS and apps are optimized for the hardware, it isn’t completely necessary.
