The Assassin’s Creed franchise is no stranger to mobile and handheld devices, having spawned a number of spin-offs in the past, although it has been a while since we’ve seen a dedicated portable title of sorts. Things are looking to change however, following a recent announcement from Ubisoft.
Titled “Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade,” the latest spin-off game in the franchise was announced during the Ubisoft Forward showcase at the Summer Games Fest. The title is set to make its debut on mobile devices, and features a lot of the stealth-action and exploration gameplay that fans have come to love from the franchise.
With that being said, Assassin’s Creed isn’t the only AAA franchise to make a return to mobile gaming platforms – Square Enix recently announced new updates for Ever Crisis, a spin-off title from the popular “Final Fantasy VII” franchise. The game was originally announced a couple of years back, although it’s still currently in its pre-registration phase.
Going back to Codename Jade, fans can register for the closed beta, although there’s still no word from Ubisoft about other details such as a release date, pricing, and regional availability – we’ll have to keep an eye out for further updates about the game.
