DDPAI’s MINI5 4K dashcam keeps a sharp eye on the road

0

Sometimes in a vehicular accident, it’s easy to tell who was in the right and who was in the wrong. Sometimes it’s less clear, which is why having video evidence is key if you’re looking to avoid lengthy investigations or potential fraud cases where someone might purposely cause an accident to sue you for money.

This is why dashcams are all the rage these days, where these simple and somewhat affordable devices can save you a lot of time and headaches when it comes to proving your innocence. With the way some dashcams are designed, they can also be used to record inside of your car, protecting yourself against passengers who accuse you if you are a driver or maybe even against police.

So, if a dashcam is something you might be interested in, then you might want to take a look at DDPAI’s MINI5 4K dashcam.

Easy to install

Some of you might have been putting off getting a dashcam because you might be concerned about the installation process and are worried it might be difficult to install. That will not be the case with the MINI5 dashcam.

To power the dashcam, all you need to do is plug it into your car’s lighter port, connect the USB, and you’re basically good to go. It also comes with a wire trim tool if you want to keep things neat and don’t want wires dangling all over the place. There’s even a mini crowbar that you can use to hide the wires completely.

Once that’s done, all you have to do is slot the dashcam into its mount, peel off the windshield sticker and paste it onto your windscreen, then peel off the adhesive sticker on the mount, stick it on top of the windshield sticker and you’re good to go. We like that they’ve included a windshield sticker because it means removing it will be easier and won’t leave any sticky residue on your windshield.

Once it is mounted, you have the option to adjust the angle and rotate it so that it can either capture footage from outside or inside your car.

This is useful when combined with another feature of the MINI5, which is 24-hour parking monitoring. This means that even when you’re not in the car but want to ensure that you have video footage in the event of an accident (like someone accidentally backing into your parked car or hitting it from behind), vandalism, or even break-ins, you’ll have video footage that could come in handy.

4K footage backed by AI

Now, the problem with dashcams in the past is that due to the fact that your car is constantly moving, it means that capturing crisp and clear footage can be tricky. With the MINI5 dashcam, DDPAI has equipped it with a Sony IMX415 sensor that is capable of capturing footage in 4K resolution.

There is also a STARVIS CMOS sensor that will help with the camera’s infrared night vision capabilities, so even when you’re driving at night, your video footage won’t be completely useless.

The camera won’t completely rely on hardware for its footage. The company has also included what they’re calling Realcube Image Technology. This technology relies on algorithms to help enhance your video footage, whether it be to make your video look more vivid with brighter and saturated colors, to making text on billboards or license plates more visible and legible, which might come in handy in some situations.

The camera even has a G-sensor that can detect when an accident occurs, which will then allow the camera to automatically start recording for 10-30 seconds so that you have the footage if you need to submit a claim to your insurance company or to law enforcement if you need proof that you were in the right.

Wireless transmission

The majority of dashcams out there rely on memory cards if you want to transfer footage from the camera to your phone or computer. While this is fine for the most part, the DDPAI MINI5 dashcam actually comes with support for 5GHz WiFi. This is faster compared to some other dashcams which still rely on the slower 2.4GHz standard.

This means that if you need to transfer footage from the camera to another device, like a phone, tablet, or laptop, that option will be available for you, which is super convenient if you don’t have an SD card reader or don’t want to unmount the camera and connect it to your PC to transfer the footage over.

This can be controlled using the accompanying smartphone app which lets users view footage, playback, and even upload it to DDPAI’s community where it can be shared with other users. This is a feature that can be found in all of DDPAI’s devices, not just the MINI5 dashcam.

One thing to note is that the MINI5 supports eMMC storage which eliminates the need for external storage like microSD cards. An advantage to that is that eMMC storage up to 5x read/write speeds compared to SD cards, and has a longer lifespan so that you don’t have to worry about your footage getting lost due to a corrupted memory card.

Pricing & availability

All in all, DDPAI’s MINI5 dashcam is a great dashcam if you’re looking for such an accessory for your car. The ease of installation, 4K video footage, and the ability for it to record either the outside or inside your vehicle can be invaluable feature for some. Plus, right now it’s enjoying a $70 discount which brings it down from its regular asking price of $200 to $130, so it might be worth taking a look at.
