Google’s Pixel Fold could be forcing Samsung’s hand

0

If the rumors are to be believed, Google is expected to officially announce the Pixel Fold at its I/O event in May. This means that we will now be getting a new competitor in the foldables market, and that is something that could be worrying Samsung.

According to a report from SamMobile, it seems that Google’s plans to unveil the Pixel Fold at I/O is forcing Samsung to move up their plans for their next Unpacked event. The company usually announces its new foldables around August, but the report claims that because of the Pixel Fold, Samsung could be moving up the event to July.

Apparently Samsung does not want to give the Pixel Fold too much time in the spotlight which would undoubtedly lead to some potential Galaxy Z Fold or Flip customers to opt for the Pixel Fold, especially if they don’t have the patience to wait for Samsung’s own foldable smartphones.

It’s interesting if this were the case, especially since there are rumors that claim that Samsung is apparently one of the suppliers for the displays that will be used in the Pixel Fold. Either way, a July launch isn’t such a bad idea since we won’t have to wait as long, but since Samsung hasn’t officially announced anything yet, do take this with a grain of salt for now.
