Google could be shrinking the Pixel 8’s display

0

Typically, Google launches two Pixel flagship devices every year, and this year we expect that there will be a Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. The main differences over the years has typically been in the display and camera department, where the base model will sport a smaller display compared to the Pro model.

Now according to a tweet by DSCC’s Ross Young, Google could actually be looking to make the Pixel 8 smaller than its predecessor. The tweet claims that Google might be shrinking the Pixel 8’s display down from the 6.32-inches found in the Pixel 7 down to 6.16-inches. This is about 0.16-inches in difference which honestly we’re not sure if it will be too noticeable.

For those who think that this might be a downgrade, we can see where you’re coming from, but it’s not necessarily a bad thing. Many have complained over the years about how their phone displays are getting too big and unwieldy, so a smaller display means a smaller phone, especially if Google shrinks the bezels as well, which makes it easier to hold and use with one hand.

The tweet also claims that Google will not be touching the Pixel 8 Pro’s display which is expected to remain at 6.7-inches, similar to its predecessor, but what do you think? Would you be more interested in a smaller Pixel 8? Or has this rumor kind of killed your interest?
