OG Samsung Galaxy Z Flip gets One UI 5.0 beta update

0

Samsung has been steadily releasing and including devices in its One UI 5.0 beta update, and the latest to be included is the OG Samsung Galaxy Z Flip which was released in 2020, and the Flip 5G which was also released in the same year. Both devices are now eligible to take part in the beta, so if you own either handset, you can check it out.

It shouldn’t be surprising that Samsung is including its Flip phones from 2020 in the beta. Given that both phones are about 2 years old by now, they are more than eligible for the Android 13 update. When exactly the update will be released to those not taking part in the beta remains to be seen, but this is good news anyway.

We had previously heard that Samsung plans to update the majority of its flagship phones to Android 13 by the end of the year, so for the original Flip and Flip 5G to receive the beta now certainly seems to point in that direction. To date, only the Galaxy S22 series has officially received the public One UI 5.0 update, but even then it is only available in some parts of the world and only for devices that use the Exynos 2200 chipset.

Either way, we’ll be keeping an eye out for more details when Samsung eventually does get around to releasing more public versions of One UI 5.0, but if you own the Flip or Flip 5G and want to check out the beta, you just need to download the Samsung Members app and register yourself.
