Fossil rolls out Wear OS 3 update to its Gen 6 smartwatches

0

Google’s Wear OS has been around for quite a while now, but it seems that it was only in 2021 when Google and Samsung announced that they would be collaborating on Wear OS 3 that it feels like the platform has been given a new lease on life.

The good news is that if you happen to own one of Fossil’s Gen 6 smartwatches, the company has started to push out the update to its devices today. The update offers up a more stock/vanilla Wear OS experience similar to that of the Pixel Watch, and it’s not a bad thing, especially if you don’t really enjoy all these different UI customizations OEMs try to push onto users.

Keep in mind that if you were to install the update, it basically wipes your Fossil smartwatch and you’ll have to start all over again. You will also need to install the Fossil Smartwatches app to set things up and manage it, but the update will bring a lot of changes and new features to the table, so it might be worth checking out.

Fossil appears to be rolling the update out in phases, so if you don’t see the update available to you just yet, don’t worry, as long as you own one of the company’s Gen 6 smartwatches, the update should eventually make its way to you.
