Motorola Razr 2022 will be unveiled August 2

We have been hearing about Motorola’s plans for their third-gen Razr foldable phone for a while now, and just last week, the company officially showed off the handset on stage. They then followed up with another photo this week showing the outer display of the phone, and now it looks like we may finally have the launch date for the handset.

Spotted by Android Authority, Motorola has posted a teaser on Weibo in which the company has revealed that they will be officially announcing the Motorola Razr 2022 and the X30 Pro at an event that will be held on the 2nd of August at 7:30pm. Since Weibo caters towards a China audience, this means that the official reveal should be on the 1st of August 7:30am ET, unless Motorola has a separate event planned for non-China markets.

What’s interesting about this date is that it takes place ahead of Samsung’s own Unpacked event which is scheduled for the 10th of August. The event is where Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Z Flip 4, their answer to the Razr series, so it will be interesting to see if Motorola’s upcoming foldable will be able to steal the limelight from Samsung.

Both phones are expected to be flagship devices, but the rumor mill is saying that the Razr could be packing the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, versus the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 that could make its way into the Flip 4, so it might be slightly disadvantaged in terms of specs, but we’ll have to wait for the official announcement to find out.
