One of the initial resistance to the concept of smartwatches is the fact that you’d have to charge it daily. This is versus traditional timepieces that usually come with batteries that can last a year, or in some cases, may never require charging or changing of batteries entirely (it depends on the movement).
That being said, if you were hoping that Google’s upcoming Pixel Watch could sport decent battery life, we suppose it depends on what you would define as being “decent” because according to a report from 9to5Google, the Pixel Watch will apparently be able to last for an entire day.
The report claims that the Pixel Watch will be packing a 300mAh battery that is said to be good for a day’s use, but as the publication notes, it is unclear under what conditions the watch was being tested under. That being said, a day’s use seems to be in line with other Wear OS smartwatches, like those made by Fossil and Samsung.
We’re sure that some would prefer if their watch could last for days or even weeks on end, but we suppose charging at the end of the day isn’t too bad, unless you want to wear the watch continuously throughout the night for sleep tracking.
Google hasn’t released any other details about the Pixel Watch yet other than confirming its existence, but the rumors are claiming that the smartwatch could actually be packing some rather old hardware. More details are expected to be revealed later this year, so until then, take it with a grain of salt.
