Samsung Expert RAW update brings better low-light photography to its smartphones

0

If you’re someone who uses Samsung’s Expert RAW on their Galaxy smartphones to take photos, then you might be pleased to learn that the company has pushed out an update to the feature that will allow users to take better photos in low-light situations, perfect if you’re snapping photos at night or indoors where the lighting isn’t ideal.

The update should already be live so do keep an eye out for it if you haven’t updated it already. For those who are unfamiliar, Samsung Expert RAW is basically an extension of its camera app for its higher-end Galaxy smartphones where it gives users more control over their photographs.

This includes manual control over camera functions like shutter speed and ISO, so that users can fine tune their photographs instead of relying purely on the camera’s software. It also saves photos in the RAW format which is a non-destructive format typically preferred by professionals as it gives them more say over how the final image looks like, versus an image that has been captured and processed as a JPEG file.

Expert RAW is currently not available for all of Samsung’s smartphones, but the company did publish a timeline back in February earlier this year that listed when some of its older phones would receive the feature. As we are in April, this means that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 should receive it, followed by the Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Fold 2 before the first half of 2022 is up.
