Expert RAW unlocks a true Pro Mode on the Galaxy S21 Ultra

If you load up the default camera app on your Galaxy S21 Ultra, you might be wondering why there’s a Pro Mode, yet we’re talking about another app you should download. That’s because the default Pro Mode is limited on the S21 Ultra as it doesn’t support using the telephoto lens on your phone.

Thanks to @FrontTron, Samsung has released a new app for the Galaxy S21 Ultra called Expert RAW. This app allows you to make full use of all of the cameras found on your phone, including the primary, ultra wide, and both of the telephoto cameras. When using Expert RAW, you’ll be able to adjust all of the settings you would want, such as the exposure, ISO, shutter speed, white balance, and more. But what makes this even more impressive is that you can also adjust the settings for your cameras in either photos or videos and not just one mode.

Although Samsung originally released Expert RAW in the company’s home country of South Korea, you can manually download the APK and install it yourself. However, there are a few caveats that you should be aware of. First of all, this only works with the Galaxy S21 Ultra at this time. There’s no indication as to whether Samsung will bring support for the app to the Galaxy S21 Plus or even the standard Galaxy S21. Secondly, you’ll need to have your phone updated to One UI 4.0 based on Android 12. This shouldn’t be too much of a problem given that Samsung has already released the final version of the software and it’s now available to all owners of the device.

The actual listing of for the Expert RAW app is limited to the South Korean Galaxy Store, but we wouldn’t be surprised if Samsung rolls this out to more regions in the coming weeks.
