OnePlus Ace handset could be in the works with 150W fast charging

OnePlus has recently confirmed that they will be hosting an event on the 28th of April where if the rumors are to be believed, we could see brand new phones like the OnePlus 10R and the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite launched, but it seems that that might not be all OnePlus is working on.

Based on posts made on Weibo by Digital Chat Station, apparently OnePlus is also working on another handset that will be called the OnePlus Ace. If that sounds familiar, it is because it is the same name that Oppo used for the Oppo Ace handset, and given that OnePlus and Oppo are under the same parent company and both are working together, we can’t say we would be too surprised if the rumors are true.

The report goes on to claim that the phone is expected to be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8100 chipset and will be utilizing Sony’s IMX766 camera technology. It also claims that the phone will support crazy fast charging at 150W, which is pretty insane and should be able to juice up the phone completely in a matter of minutes.

There is no word on when this rumored OnePlus Ace will be announced and whether it might be part of the company’s April event, so we’ll just have to wait and see, so maybe don’t hold your breath just yet. In the meantime, recent reports are also claiming that OnePlus could be working on other phones also powered by MediaTek’s chipsets, so it looks like OnePlus could be slowly reducing their reliance on Qualcomm for their hardware needs.
