Motorola’s onslaught of releasing affordable Android phones doesn’t look like it’s stopping anytime soon. A while back, we reported that Motorola may soon unveil a new mid-range Android handset in the form of the Moto G52. Initial reports of the device featured photos and a specs sheet courtesy of tech informant Evan Blass, and an official listing on a European Motorola website finally confirms the smartphone’s existence.
As predicted, the new handset is strictly in mid-range territory. According to the website listing, the phone will come with a 6.6-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, complete with a 90Hz refresh rate. Inside is Qualcomm’s snapdragon 680 4G chipset, alongside 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The smartphone will come in two colors, Charcoal Grey and Porcelain White.
Additional specs include a triple camera set-up with a 50-megapixel main shooter, 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, 2-megapixel macro lens, 16-megapixel front camera, and a 5,000 mAh battery. The Moto G52 also features a 3.5mm headphone jack, microSD card slot, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a water-repellent design.
In addition to its Moto G series handsets, the company also sells the low-end Moto “E” series, which makes up a sizeable amount of its device portfolio. The company also sells high-end phones like the Moto Edge series, the Moto Razr 5G, a revamp of its popular flip-phone back in the 2000s, and the Motorola Defy, a rugged mid-range smartphone.
Motorola’s strategy with its mid-range smartphones has paid off so far, allowing the manufacturer to climb to the top-three spot in the United States behind Apple and Samsung in terms of shipments and sales. The lack of LG’s presence in the US mobile market also played a factor in allowing Motorola to ascend to its current spot.
The Moto G52 is expected to retail for around 250 Euros, or $270 when it goes on sale.
