Vivo Unveils New Tablet with Snapdragon Chipset

It’s not uncommon to see smartphone manufacturers churn out a tablet device every now and then – after all, they were all the rage a few years back, with every OEM selling their own tablet device. As the years went on, the fad seemingly died down, and only a few companies were left selling dedicated tablet hardware. The past couple of years have seen a resurgence though – a new wave of devices have made their way to the market, and Vivo’s Vivo Pad is one of them.

A post from Notebook Check confirms that Vivo’s new Android device is official, and is actually available for sale at JD.comHardware specs for the Vivo Pad include an 11-inch IPS display with 120Hz resolution and 1600x2560p resolution, a metal unibody, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 870 chipset, and a choice of either 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage, or 256GB of internal storage. As per recent tradition, the device ditches the microSD card slot and 3.5mm headphone jack. The tablet’s camera hardware features a dual 13 and 8-megapixel set-up at the back, while there’s an 8-megapixel selfie camera in front.

The software inside the tablet will come with Android 12 alongside OriginOS, Vivo’s custom Android skin, and the whole device will run on an 8040 mAh battery.

The listing for the Vivo Pad comes after the recent unveiling of the Vivo X Fold, which is equipped with some eye-catching specs and will serve as the company’s main competitor to devices like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold product line. When converted, the tablet comes priced at around $360 for the base model and around $390-400 for the larger storage variant.

Vivo is a sub-brand of BBK Electronics, a larger company based in China. BBK also owns several other brands which include OnePlus, Oppo, and Realme. This announcement follows the launch of the Realme Pad Mini a week ago, although the device was initially released in the Philippines.
