Xiaomi getting ready to mass produce 150W fast-charging smartphones

While we’re still waiting for phone batteries to get to the point where they can last days on end, we suppose the next best thing would be phones whose batteries can be juiced up in minutes, thus allowing us to quickly recharge them to acceptable levels.

Back in 2021, Xiaomi debuted one of the world’s fastest charging smartphones, the Xiaomi 11T Pro which came with 120W fast-charging support, allowing the phone to go from 0% to 70% in just 10 minutes, but that is expected to change this year as Xiaomi is reportedly gearing up to mass produce phones that support 150W charging.

This feature is expected to debut in the company’s MIX 5 flagship phones and apparently at 150W, it will allow a phone to go from 0% to full in about 15 minutes or less, which is pretty crazy! Xiaomi actually has a faster charging tech that they demonstrated last year which offered 200W of charging, allowing a phone to go back up to full in just 8 minutes.

We’ve yet to see 200W become commercially available but given that Xiaomi could debut 150W charging phones this year, we suppose we’re inching towards that 200W being a reality. There is no word on when the Xiaomi MIX 5 will be officially launching, but we can’t wait to see and maybe even try that 150W charging for ourselves.
