Acer announces a trio of impressive Chromebooks at CES 2022

0

Just like the announcements that we’ve seen from Samsung already, some companies aren’t waiting until the 5th before introducing new products at CES 2022. Acer is the latest company to do so, as we’re getting a trio of new Chromebooks.

Acer Chromebook Spin 513 (CP513-2H)

The Acer Chromebook Spin 513 is the flagship Chromebook of the group, coming in with a 13.5-inch display, complete with a 2256 x 1504 resolution. But what makes the Spin 513 so intriguing, is the fact that it’s powered by MediaTek’s Kompanio 1380 chipset.

  • Display: 13.5-inches (2256 x 1504)
  • Processor: MediaTek Kompanio 1380
  • RAM: Up to 8GB LPDDR4X
  • Storage: eMMC: 32GB / 64GB / 128GB
  • Battery Life: Up to 10 hours
  • Extras: Wi-Fi 6 / DTS Audio / Two digital microphones
  • Price: Starting at $599

Last year, MediaTek introduced its Dimensity and Kompanio series of processors, and the Chromebook Spin 513 is the first Chromebook to make use of the Kompanio SoC. This is an octa-core CPU, and MediaTek has optimized the chipset to provide more than enough power to handle anything that you would need to do. Acer is also including a USB-C port, along with a standard USB-A port and a microSD card slot.

Acer Chromebook 315 (CP315-4H)

Taking a step down, we have the Acer Chromebook 315. This is your more-traditional budget-friendly Chromebook, with pricing to begin at just $299 for the entry-level model. However, you also have the option for either Intel’s Celeron N4500 or Celeron N5100, in addition to the Pentium Silver N6000.

  • Display: 15.6-inches (1920 x 1080)
  • Processor:
    • Intel Celeron N4500 (dual-core)
    • Intel Celeron N5100 (quad-core)
    • Intel Pentium Silver N6000
  • RAM: Up to 8GB LPDDR4X
  • Storage: eMMC: 64GB / 128GB
  • Battery Life: Up to 10 hours
  • Extras: Wi-Fi 6 / DTS Audio / Two digital microphones
  • Price: Starting at $299

Thanks to the larger screen and body, the Chromebook 315 also features a full number pad, along with either 64GB or 128GB of storage. Battery life is said to be pretty solid, as the Chromebook 315 is rated for up to 10 hours of juice on a single charge.

Acer Chromebook 314 (CP314-3H)

Rounding out the pack is the Acer Chromebook 314, which comes in at the same $299 price as the Chromebook 315. However, instead of including a full number pad, Acer opted to include upward-facing speakers to fill in the space on either side of the keyboard.

  • Display: 14-inches (1920 x 1080)
  • Processor:
    • Intel Celeron N4500 (dual-core)
    • Intel Celeron N5100 (quad-core)
    • Intel Pentium Silver N6000
  • RAM: Up to 8GB LPDDR4X
  • Storage: eMMC: 64GB / 128GB
  • Battery Life: Up to 10 hours
  • Extras: Wi-Fi 6 / DTS Audio / Two digital microphones
  • Price: Starting at $299

Configurations are exactly the same between the Chromebook 314 and Chromebook 315, with the only real difference coming in the screen size and the number pad. Battery life is also rated for up to 10 hours on a single charge, and the Chromebook 314 will launch sometime in June.
