Oppo and Motorola will soon announce new phones powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC

Following the announcement of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, we’ve seen a few different phone makers confirm that they will be releasing devices that use the processor. Xiaomi was one of the first to the scene, confirming the Xiaomi 12 is on the way, but we’re still awaiting an official announcement date.

Since then, Oppo and Motorola have already confirmed their next flagship phones will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest chipset. In a press release, Oppo stated the following:

Today at the Snapdragon Tech Summit 2021, OPPO announced to release a new flagship smartphone powered by the new premium Snapdragon® 8 Gen 1 Mobile Platform in the first quarter of 2022, making it one of the first companies that will adopt the latest Snapdragon platform. Meanwhile, OPPO will continue to collaborate with Qualcomm Technologies in accelerating the development of 5G and exploring the future of smartphone innovations.

The company stops a bit short of confirming the name of its next flagship device, but it would be safe to assume this would be the Find X4 or Find X4 Pro. Oppo’s Find X3 Pro was one of the best phones released in 2021, and we’re hoping that the trend continues into 2022. Oppo also confirmed that it will continue working with Qualcomm in an effort to upgrade more networks to bring 5G connectivity to more parts of the world. Currently, the company has already partnered with more than 80 different companies across the likes of Europe, Latin America, and South Africa.

But Oppo isn’t the only company to make this type of announcement, as Motorola has done the same over on Weibo. The post doesn’t reveal too much, acting as a teaser more than anything else. But what it does confirm is that the Motorola Edge X30 will be launching on December 9th using the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset.

Previous rumors and renders show a design that features a flat display, along with a camera cutout on the the top, and a triple camera setup on the back. The Motorola logo will appear in the middle, just like it does on most other phones, but we aren’t sure whether this will double as a fingerprint scanner or if Motorola will opt for an in-display scanner instead. Other rumored features include a 5,000mAh battery with up to 68W fast charging speeds, and the display will offer a 144Hz refresh rate.

We’re still a month away from the beginning of the year, but the early part of 2022 is already shaping up to be pretty exciting.
