Did Samsung just leak the Galaxy S21 FE ahead of Galaxy Unpacked?

0

Samsung Galaxy Unpacked is set to kick off at 10 AM EDT on Wednesday, and while pretty much everything about the event has been leaked, one device is likely to be missing. Earlier this year, rumors and speculation pointed to the Galaxy S21 FE being unveiled alongside Samsung’s foldable phones. However, things have settled down a bit in that regard, as we are now expecting the S21 FE to make its debut later this year.

But thanks to a recent Instagram post, Samsung may have just leaked the Galaxy S21 FE all on its own. In a back to school promotional image, the phone used in the picture is not one that is currently available. At a glance, it just looks like a lavender Galaxy S21 poking out of the bag alongside the Galaxy Buds Pro and a Galaxy Book laptop.

If you were to look at the different color options for either the Galaxy S21 or Galaxy S21+, you’ll instantly notice this isn’t one of those phones. Samsung opted for a dual-color design between the back of the phone and the camera module. In this Instagram post, the phone uses the same lavender color across both the back and camera hump. Of course, this isn’t a clear indication of the Galaxy S21 FE coming soon, but it’s interesting to see Samsung using a render for an unannounced device.

Whenever it arrives, the Galaxy S21 FE has the potential to be one of the best phones of the year. It’s rumored to feature a 6.5-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a FHD+ resolution. We’re expecting to see the Snapdragon 888 SoC paired with at least 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. While we aren’t sure exactly what the camera system will feature, this image confirms a triple camera array with the LED flash placed to the right of the module.

Since the S21 FE has likely been delayed due to the chip shortage issue plaguing many manufacturers, it’s likely that the phone will make its debut just in time for the holiday season. After seeing the success of the Galaxy S20 FE, there’s a lot riding on this phone, especially given that in lieu of the Galaxy Note series, Samsung is releasing new foldable phones.
