Sony’s LSPX-S3 might be the most interesting Bluetooth speaker of 2021

Although we don’t cover Bluetooth speakers as much as we’d like, there are still some pretty great options out there for you to choose from. But while some like JBL focus on offering a speaker that you can take with you, Sony’s LSPX-S3 takes a different approach. The LSPX-S3 looks more like something you would find in an antique store, and less like a Bluetooth speaker.

The unique design consists of a glass tube that acts as a tweeter, allowing it to send sound in all different directions. You’ll also notice the little light at the base of the tube, which Sony claims features more than 30 different brightness levels. The LED can even be used to sync with your music and will pulse with the beats.

As for the speaker quality, the LSPX-S3 sports a 46mm speaker, and all of the adjustments can be made via Sony’s Music Center app. It can be connected with another speaker in order to create a studio pair. There’s even LDAC support here for high-resolution audio, which is something that you would expect given the $350 price tag.

Finally, while you can plug this into a wall and just keep it plugged in all of the time, there’s also a built-in rechargeable battery. Sony claims the battery will last up to eight hours on a single charge before you’ll need to find the outlet again.

The LSPX-S3 is expected to launch with a $350 price tag and will be available to order beginning sometime in August.
