Google could be launching the Pixel Buds A-Series any day now

Google I/O is rapidly approaching, and we’re expecting to see some big announcements in regards to the future of Android, Wear OS, and perhaps a new device or two. The Pixel 5a is likely coming at I/O, and it would seem as though the Pixel Buds A-Series are going to be coming either before the event or alongside the 5a.

Earlier today, the official Android Twitter account revealed that not only new Pixel Buds are on the way, but also confirmed the name along with one key feature. In the tweet, it was confirmed that the Pixel Buds A-Series will be the name, and that they will at the very least feature Google’s Fast Pair technology. This doesn’t really come as too much of a surprise given that the “normal” Pixel Buds are also capable of doing the same.

Along with the graphic, we were greeted to a render of the Pixel Buds A-Series with a new Gray color option, sitting up against a Pixel 5 or Pixel 4a 5G with the Fast Pair prompt showing. This also confirmed the name of the upcoming truly-wireless earbuds, but there wasn’t much more than that available.

Within 10-15 minutes, someone controlling the @Android Twitter account realized the error of their ways and promptly deleted the Tweet. However, that was long enough for plenty of folks to get a look at what’s to come. There are still a few things about the Pixel Buds A-Series that we aren’t sure about yet. This includes whether we’ll be seeing any type of noise cancellation onboard, along with whether these new Buds will sport wireless charging. However, considering that these are likely to be a budget-friendly option to go along with the Pixel 5a, we would hedge our bets on these being a true Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro or AirPods Pro competitor.

Google I/O 2021 is slated to kick-off on May 18th, and is completely free for everyone as the event is being hosted online. There will be a series of sessions and including the keynote covering the biggest changes coming to the world of Android and Google. You still have some time to register if you haven’t already done so.
