Word on the street has it that Google is working on a new cheaper Pixel smartphone in the form of the Pixel 4a. The handset will be the successor to last year’s Pixel 3a smartphone, but the question is, when will the device launch? If a recent tweet by leakster Jon Prosser is accurate, it seems that it could be as soon as next week.
Prosser claims that the Pixel 4a will be officially launching on the 3rd of August. He claims “100%”. This seems to go against Prosser’s own tweet back in June where he suggested that the Pixel 4a could be delayed and launch only in October, but the device was spotted at the FCC just last month which does hint that it could be somewhat close to launching.
Also, we need to wonder if the Pixel 4a’s launch will be a quiet release in the Google Store, or if it will be launched alongside the new Pixel smartphones. With the Pixel 3a, Google chose to launch it separately back in May 2019, while the Pixel 4 was announced in October 2019.
Finally happy to give a final update on Pixel 4a!
The last date I gave you (provided in the tweet below) is the launch day!
Pixel 4a. August 3. 100%.
Only question is…
Do you care anymore? Or have they pushed this off too much? https://t.co/SZkQpvRAZI— not jon prosser (@jon_prosser) July 26, 2020
It is possible that the Pixel 4a could follow suit where it will be released earlier and then Google could follow up with a separate announcement for the Pixel 5 smartphones. Either way we’ll have to wait and see, so be sure to take this with a grain of salt, but check back with u next Monday to see if this rumor pans out.
